Kinderhaus Limmat

a kindergarten based on the principles of Maria Montessori

Kinderhaus Limmat

In August 2014, we opened a primary school for Grades 1 to 3. The Kinder Campus is situated in the same building as the Kinderhaus Limmat.

Children attend our “ all day” kindergarten from the age of three years until they enter their first school year. This allows them to complete both of their obligatory kindergarten years with us.

The “Kinderhaus Limmat” is a kindergarten based on the principles of Maria Montessori as well as following the learning goals of the public kindergarten system.

The Kinderhaus offers uniquely organized surroundings enabling your children to occupy themselves independently. They have a lot of freedom to choose from a wide variety of learning materials, games and experiments that spark their interest. The children can make use of them for as long and as often as they wish. The rooms are specifically arranged to provide order and structure.

Due to the mixed aged groups, the children profit from one another and learn to help each other. This dynamic aids their social development and interactions with each other.

Children who reach the primary school level have the opportunity to continue their education in our day school, Kinder Campus

WHERE?

TThe Kinderhaus is located centrally in Zürich west, only three tram stops away from Escher-Wyss Platz. Nearby are spacious playgrounds, the forest and the city, all which offer many opportunities for interesting and fun excursions.

Offer

Offer

Our Offer

Offer based on Maria Montessori

Language material: Enlargement and enrichment of vocabulary. The children learn how to express themselves. Introduction to reading and writing.

Practical life skills: The children get involved in daily household chores such as cooking, setting the table, ironing, caring for plants and many other activities.

Maria Montessori developed different sensory materials. Using objects such as smelling cans and touch pads, the children bring more awareness to their senses.

Maths material: Playful first contact with numbers and calculations, such as adding and subtracting.

Cosmic education: The premise that everything in our world is dependent on each other is a fundamental cornerstone of the Montessori method. Children are immersed in topics such as botany, geology and biology. All beings are connected.

Additonal offers

At daily crafts and woodwork, the children become familiar with different materials and tools.

Role playing is important in helping children process their experiences. We offer them the rooms and materials to experiment.

In the drawing corner, children are provided with a quiet area to express themselves and foster their creativity.

Theater and rhythm is also an integral part of our schedule.

On “forest days”, we delight in all that nature has to offer us!

During the day, the children have the freedom to spend their time outdoors.
